Secrets of the Saltwater Beaver

SALISH SEA WILD

Beavers’ ecological benefits are as big as their teeth. A salty subset of beavers recently discovered living in the Salish Sea watershed turn out to be important allies in our fight to restore threatened and endangered salmon. But most of their habitat had been destroyed long before we even knew these beaver existed. We still know practically nothing about them and whether there’s anything we can do to help them help us save salmon. To jumpstart the science, SeaDoc funded the world’s first attempt to tag one of these super-sized, super-hardy rodents. Follow along as Joe plunges into the hidden world of the saltwater beaver.
