After a decade of service on the SeaDoc Society’s Board of Directors, Rochelle Severson and Kevin Campion will cycle off, with Board Member Ardi Kveven taking over as Board Chair.
In addition to her own stint as Chair, Rochelle played a vital role in our annual Wine & Sea Auction for the entirety of her time on the board, giving countless hours and endless creativity to our big annual fundraising event. As the founder of Deep Green Wilderness, Kevin has spent his summers on the water educating Salish Sea youth and bringing that experience, and his deep love for wildlife and the ecosystem, to the board.
With Kevin vacating the Board Chair role, he’ll be followed by his former teacher and longtime mentor, Ardi Kveven, Founder and Executive Director of ORCA (Orca Research College Academy), who joined the Board in 2017.
Here’s a bit from our Regional Director, Leigh Ann Gilmer:
“We truly can’t thank Kevin and Rochelle enough for the many years of heartfelt service they’ve dedicated to the SeaDoc Society. Their leadership has been a constant source of guidance and inspiration for everyone on our team, and we are humbled by the countless hours they’ve given of their time to advance our work for a healthy Salish Sea. We are thrilled that Ardi Kveven will now be stepping into the role of Board Chair, because who could be a better fit than someone who has devoted her career to inspiring people to learn about, care for, and protect this ecosystem and its wildlife through science and education?!”
