Exciting New Faces at SeaDoc Society!

We’re excited to announce two exciting additions (and one transition) to the greater SeaDoc team!

Laura Donald is our newest member of the Board of Directors and Marco Hatch and Marguerite Pappaioanou have joined our Science Advisory Committee. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have all three of them in these roles! Their insight and drive will be immensely valuable as we carve our way through 2019 and beyond with science as our foundation and new outreach and education opportunities on the horizon.

Here’s a bit about all three:

Laura Donald lives in Seattle and on Orcas Island and has been a friend and supporter of SeaDoc for years. She has an MBA in Business Administration from Auburn University and has served on numerous non-profit boards including Recovery Café, Path with Art and the Henry Art Gallery. Laura and her husband, Jim Donald, recently traveled with Joe and Markus to Patagonia, where they immersed themselves in the exciting challenges that come with conducting marine research from a scientific perspective.

Marco Hatch is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University. He has a Doctorate of Philosophy and a Masters of Science from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a Bachelor of Science from University of Washington. In 2017, he received the Research Conservation Award from the Seattle Aquarium and the Outstanding Native American Mentor award from the Society of Chicanos/Latinos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).

Marguerite Pappaioanou has been part of the SeaDoc family since 2016, when she came on as a member of the Board of Directors. After three years of invaluable contributions on the board, Marguerite will be lending her expertise on SeaDoc’s Science Advisory Committee. Marguerite is an Affiliate Professor and Associate Director for Animal and Planetary Health, Center for One Health Research, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, School of Public Health, University of Washington.

Welcome to your new roles with SeaDoc, Laura, Marco and Marguerite!
