Rockfish Listed by NOAA Fisheries

Yelloweye rockfish by Janna NicholsToday NOAA Fisheries listed Bocaccio as endangered and Canary and Yelloweye Rockfish as threatened. These are 3 of about 26 long-lived rockfish species that inhabit the Salish Sea region. Hopefully listing will eventually results in recovery plans that restore the populations of these three fish. Why our work matters

Healthy ecosystems support economic prosperity. The Salish Sea provides abundant natural capital that contributes substantially to the financial prosperity of the region. Unhealthy ecosystems cost money because we lose the opportunity to benefit from them. The Salish Sea's deteriorating health threatens our economic well being and quality of life.
